To share personal details and collaborative creative work, research, and scholarship. This is a place for me to showcase my writings, thought process, education, and observations about dance as well as share my training, experience, and love for education, technology, and military service.

Brief Bio

Jazelynn Goudy is a dancer, educator, veteran and homie. Born in Milwaukee, WI she studied dancing at the early age of 2. Gayle’s Dance Studio gave her the foundation in ballet tap and jazz dancing. With this platform, she attends Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts where she was formally introduced to Hip Hop and African dance, as well as guest artist from within Milwaukee’s community. In 2003 Jazelynn auditioned and join Ton-Ko-Thi West African Dance Ensemble. Under the direction of Melissa Ford and Fern Caulker, Jazelynn took the knowledge and experience of the African Diaspora of dance and expanded.  In 2008 she graduated from Milwaukee High School of the Arts where she had the pleasure of training under many choreographers and educators nation and worldwide.

Shortly after graduation, she enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces officer. After she was discharged from the military she started her college journey.

As an active student on campus at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater she was involved in many student organization, dance events, technology, and education conferences. The outlet allowed her to expand her self as a well-rounded artist and citizen in society. In Fall 2015 she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Studies with a minor in Dance.

After graduation, she plans on continuing her dancing in many different styles. She was a member of ReVamp Dance Team. This organization has allowed her to expand her knowledge in hip-hop choreography as well as obtain family-like bonds with dancers in MKE. ReVamp has also opened her eyes to the positive side of competition dancing and educated her on the many opportunists it can bring. She also is a dancer in Signature Dance Company senior dance, Paraprofessional/Educational Assistant for Milwaukee Public School, as well as a community dance instructor for Signature Dance Company and Chasing Destiny LLC. 

Jazelynn is obtaining an Master of Fine Arts in Dance at The Ohio State University where she is looking at the integration of the African Diaspora and Contemporary dance, as well integrating technology, text, and research into her work. With this master degree she hopes to share her passion and knowledge with the community through education, as well as create work and dialogue along the ideas of Arts integration in all aspects of life. She would also like to travel and share her passion for dance and thirst for knowledge around the world (via technology or air travel).  Her overall career goal is to continue teach dance at the community and collegian level.
